Swiftwater & Flood First Responder 

For crews working in shallow water upto wading depth.  

The Swiftwater and Flood First Responder (SFR) course is designed to equip crews with essential skills for operating safely in and around swiftwater and flood environments. This course emphasizes bank-based and shallow water wading rescues, enabling responders to support rescue operations effectively.  The course is run over 2 days.

The Course & Who its for!

Swiftwater and Flood First Responders work around the water and undertake bank-based and shallow water wading rescues as part of an SFR team. They can also support teams of Swiftwater Rescue Technicians at an incident. A First Responder will have the ability to self-rescue and perform rescues of team members and casualties at the level to which they have been trained.

Location 

This course is run from our base at Harleyford Marina on the River Thames. We use a number of islands around Hurley were we also have 4 weirs. 

Pre-Requests 

Before enrolling on this course, participants must:
✔ Be confident swimmers
✔ Be at least 18 years old
✔ Have a basic level of fitness to complete practical exercises
